Four Hours Earlier... Episode 1.02 White to Play

I am Spartacus...or at least Suspect 0!

Charlie is the Detroit Tigers' fan walking around the flash forward. Sweet, this show is nothing like LOST, a nice succinct answer to a major mystery the first few seconds of the episode. Oh wait…it was just a game?!? So, many of us, I’m guessing, saw that coming after a few seconds. That cat, D. Gibbons? He’s one baaaaaad mother (Watch your mouth!).

Just a note for future contemplation: Did anyone notice the 22 23 MAG PARK written in chalk on the playground next to all the children in the opening episode? Significance? I don’t know, just thought I’d mention it.

I thought it was nice to see that Charlie can run faster and further than her dad based her run in White to Play and Mark’s in No More Good Days.

So planes are no good, but you can fly all the helicopters that you want?

I’m a lying jerk…OK, I admit it. I’m going to start with a completely baseless theory. The military presence seems to be everywhere, but no one seems to notice. My theory is that some form of martial law has been declared and with recent exits from the FBI via everyone and their cousin resigning, the local police need all the help they can get, and the populous are reassured that they are safe from the looting and other crimes post flash. I just flew across the US (by the way LOST and FF are not shows to watch before getting on airplanes), and I still saw a few people in full riot gear and holding assault rifles. For anyone outside the US, if you didn’t know by now, when American’s get scared…they get guns, tanks, and planes…scratch that, helicopters. I would like a more definitive answer as to why is the military all over the place in the next few episodes.

I met with my divorce attorney this morning. That’s funny; I met with mine last night.

I really like Olivia and Mark. Their humor matches up with mine, and they just crack me up. I some clips in the SpoilerTV FF non-spoiler forums, about Squirrelio and friends. I think the scene of her stitching up the doll with Charlie watching may foreshadow a future moment. I would love some feedback if the scene just seemed odd in tone, lighting, etc. Moving on.

THEY MEET! Dun dun da… So Olivia meets her future bunk mate. Did his getting up to say that he had to make a call seem more ominous this week in the flash back where he looks at the phone he seems quite upset? I’m guessing it is a text, because he looks and says, “I have to make a call.” I feel like the writers/producers want us to think that this may be connected to the phone calls during the flash forward that we learn about later in the episode. I am skeptical of any connection pending further evidence.
I didn’t see it last week, but he is looking down at his cell phone and had his head in this hand when is sitting downstairs. He appears worried or upset. I did see a summary of the book online that the show is based off of, but I’m hoping that his character is unique from the book of which he is the main character.

I'm a creepy cupcake lady!

For any of you who don't know. D. Gibbins (cupcake version) is also on a sketch comedy show where she plays the creepiest old lady ever. Her voice is like nails on a chalk board...but I digress... Did anyone else think that all four of the FBI agents in the room look like they were about to shoot this woman. I think they over acted the scene just a bit. They truly looked pissed at this woman.

Mark's flash includes him knowing about the flash forward. He is working on trying to find the cause of the flash forward. Now in Stan's (the African-American boss) flash he is sitting on the toilet. This is the point that confuses me. Being that he now knows the exact time and date of the flash, and he is sitting on the toilet reading the sports page? Why would not be working on the case? Shouldn't he be standing in the control center were they have a billion instruments set up around the world to determine what cause the flash. I would think that they would have camera feeds from around the world, Geiger counters, satellite feeds, etc. Either he as serious diarrhea or we are going to find out that he is sitting with a gun waiting for someone to come find him as a set up. He may be like Mark and have a gun ready for the guys coming for him. My only thought was it will change, or he set himself up so that he would see that in the flash in order to set someone else up. I could be that he follows through on it just so they can confirm the time/date of when they flash to. Also, the door on the bathroom is the same in his flash as in his urine soaked make out session. So, I’m guessing he is at the FBI headquarters. One last thought... did he set himself up in order to try to hide something from himself?

Mark…don’t do it man…don’t freakin’ do it!!!

Mark is walking a dangerous line. He is pushing the envelope for turning into a complete dick. He is getting accusatory of this wife, but Olivia has been honest the whole time. He is lying about the drinking. He starts going into jerk-off mode like Jack did on LOST from season 2- present...I’ll be pissed.

“He who foresees calamities suffers them twice over.”

So Demetri’s comment about someone else looking into the event in regards to D. Gibbons seemed to planned to me. I feel like the writers put that comment in for specific purpose. Maybe it is that lead that results in Demetri’s death…. I’ll be watching next week. Hope you are to…

PS The reason this is so late is I get married on this Sunday. And blowing off wedding planning to write this entry is well… “bad wedding etiquette.”

Midweek Thoughts for 1.02 Round 2

Here is something that has really been bothering me this week...

Stan Wedeck's flash foward...I'm thinking that the future the characters see is based on the reality that exists as a result of them having the flash.  Again, I'm not going to go to far with this because we have very limited information (we being the non-spoiler crowd).

So here is the mystery I would like to see solved...

Mark's flash includes him knowing about the flash forward.  He is working on trying to find the cause.  Now in Stan's flash he is sitting on the toilet. Either he as serious diarrhea, or we are going to find out that he is sitting with a gun waiting for someone to come find him as a set up.  He may be like Mark as a gun ready for the guys coming for him.  My only thought was it will change, or he set himself up so that he would see that in the flash in order to set someone else up.  I could be that he follows through on it just so they can confirm the time/date of when they flash to.  One last thought... did he set himself up in order to try to hide something from himself?

PS....Does he now have his life savings on Rays beating the Red Sox's?

Midweek Thoughts for 1.02

First off here is another regular recap/summery by g-man that I recommend over at spoilertv.blogspot.com.

Again... I have read not spoilers so please don't spoil me. This is a no spoiler website.

Things I want answered this week.

  • Who is the Detroit Tigers baseball fan walking around during the flash forward (OK, at least answered by the end of season 2), and will he be angry when the/my Minnesota Twins beat them in the division this year (This, on the other hand, does need to be answered this week)?

  • Who is the person Mark/Demetri arrested and what exactly did they want her for? I picked up it had something to do with terrorism/dirty bombs?

  • Is Red Panda relevant or is it just a shout out to the production team?

  • And finally, from my fiance....How stupid do they think we are??????????? During the replay on Friday they pointed out all the major clues (bullet, kangaroo, three stars, etc.) in the commercials just in case we didn't realize they wanted us to notice them. REALLY???? If you are going to promo this as the next LOST and seek out LOSTies, people were paying attention.
